Q: Can you tell us about yourself and your background?
My name is Apurva, and I am from India. I graduated this year with a degree in computer science engineering. However, the practical knowledge I gained from the program was minimal, as much of it was more focused on passing exams. I've tried learning to code by myself in the past and even attempted several online courses, but I often found myself stuck and unsure of how to proceed.
Q: Is this your first experience with coding?
I've tried to learn coding by myself in the past, but a lack of structure and direction often left me feeling stuck. I've also taken a few online tutorials, but again, the lack of structure often proved to be a challenge. Joining Altcademy has been my most structured learning experience in coding.
Q: Why did you choose Altcademy?
I found out about Altcademy while searching for boot camps online. I was looking for a program that could offer a structured learning path. After researching about Altcademy and listening to the experiences of the alumni, I decided this was the right program for me.
Q: How has your experience been with the program so far?
I'm currently studying full time, and while it's been challenging to maintain discipline and consistency, I'm benefiting from the structured learning path. I found HTML and CSS easy to understand, thanks to some previous knowledge. Although JavaScript was a bit hard, being able to ask questions and receive detailed explanations has been of great help.
Q: What are your plans moving forward?
I plan on finishing the program by the end of November, and after that, my goal is to get a job in web development. I'm particularly interested in finding a job in a foreign country and have been exploring opportunities in the US. However, I understand it's a multistage process, and I'm open to starting with a job in India first before transitioning into a foreign market.
Q: Any advice for people considering learning to code?
For those struggling to learn coding on their own, consider joining a well-structured program like a boot camp. It's much easier to learn when there's a clear path to follow, and you can always ask questions when you're stuck. Stay committed, keep practicing, and eventually, you will become a good developer.
In conclusion, Apurva's experience showcases the benefits of a structured learning path. Despite previous struggles with self-learning coding, he's now on a confident path to becoming a skilled web developer, proving that dedication, hard work, and the right guidance can make all the difference.
